Musical Tendancies || Melinda & Avery

technological-mel:

Ah, Sunday! No classes… no commitments… and Melinda Roberts was finally free of the flu! It’s safe to say that the redhead felt fairly great with being shot of it, not to mention the fact that’s she’d unofficially taken up the job of head DJ for the lakeside party on Friday… even if Delilah had threatened to get the redhead either drunk or high. Oh, well - to be honest, Melinda was in too good of a mood to worry about the blonde’s threats of spikig her drink.

Right now however, the technopath found herself in the music room she and Cara had found two weeks previously, strumming out a chord sequence on her acoustic. It was completely random - something the redhead hadn’t even played before - but it sounded good, and some of Melinda’s old lyrics started running though her mind. Before using said lyrics, however, the redhead hummed out a tune to the chord sequence. Huh… it sounded good. More than good, actually. She wondered if… Melinda put the lyrics to the tune. Yeah - that worked!

“I’ve hoped for change,
and it gets better everyday
I’ve hoped for change,
but still I feel the same…”

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, although the air felt a bit too hot, so Avery quickly focused on turning down the heat a bit and getting a slight breeze. It was a bit tricky controlling the weather and a big gust of wind blew passed him and he sighed, frustrated before continuing on his way. He didn’t feel like focusing on his powers too much today. He had been working on his music all week, hoping something new would inspire him, but he’d yet to find anything.

He traveled towards the music room, his guitar hanging on his shoulder as he strummed it casually as he walked into the place, ceasing his guitar playing to enter the music room. It didn’t take long to notice a red head singing with her own guitar in the room and he bit his lip, enjoying the sound and kicked in his own tune with his guitar, advancing on her to continue the song, the two playing guitar in different rhythms that just seemed to fit.

Avery had had a long day, but Amelia wanted to continue with questions and he was more than happy to do anything that would make her happy. He admired her red hair, finding it difficult to remember the last time he dated a girl that wasn’t blonde, but the blondes never worked out and never meant much. Amelia, somehow, off the bat had made an impression on Avery like no one ever had and to think all this was happening in one night was just incredible. He’d felt like he’d known her forever, that he was already in love with her, but that was silly and unrealistic.

“Sure, what do you want to know? I’ll tell you anything.” He smiled, holding back any yawns so she would not be aware of his tiredness.

The redhead pouted her lips, thinking. “Tell me your favorites. Like favorite movie, book, flower, color, song, etc…” she said, trailing off. It wasn’t that deep of a question, but they were things everyone had. Everyone had at least a favorite color; the basics were what made up the building blocks of a person. You had to have the simple before you got the complicated. Avery seemed tired as well, so she didn’t want to push him any farther with emotional questions of that sort. They’d had enough, what with missions and Rose not coming back. It was a nice break to have a distraction, though she’d never call Avery a distraction. It freed her when she was around him. Being around him almost made her forget the worries and troubles she’d been carrying around with her since that fateful day in June.

“And whatever you answer, I’ll answer back. It’s only fair,” she added, reaching a small hand up  to fix the blonde man’s unruly hair. It had gotten a bit rustled up from their previous activity, and it made her laugh. It looked similar to a rooster’s plumes.

“Hmmm…” He rubbed his chin, thinking on what his favorites were.  ”Well, my favorite song would have to be ‘Island in the Sun’ by Weezer. And my favorite book is ‘Neverwhere’ by Neil Gaiman. Movie would have to be ‘Batman Begins’ and color is red.” He licked his lips, thinking about what else he could tell her was his favorite. Avery found it complicated to think on it too much, but he wanted to know more about her as well. “My favorite food is spaghetti and my favorite hobby is writing music.” And he trailed off for a moment.  ”My favorite thing to do is kiss you.” He kissed the top of her head and continued to stroke her hair.

What? I thought girls liked it when guys got all macho and jealous!

Macho yes, but jealous, not so much. Well, maybe a little, but not too much! Just enough, like, not enough to get angry but just enough to like, balance it out? Oh, whatever…

You’re cute when you ramble. Anyway, I won’t get angry. Someone would have to do something very wrong to make me angry.

Hopefully this new kid doesn’t think he can flirt with my lady, hm…

Aww, look at you being all protective and stuff!

Can’t be helped when I have a beautiful woman. Have to keep her eyes on me, ya know?

Avery listened, smirking all the while as she spoke. He found it cute how she rambled on, trying her best to explain her thoughts. Amelia was a beautiful soul, truthfully. Avery was falling in love. He loved her red locks, and striking eyes. He loved how she crinkled her eyebrows together and her dimples and her freckles. “It’s fine, Amelia.” He kissed the top of her head as she settled into him and began playing with her hair.

“I want nothing more than to just be with you. We can do whatever you want us to do.” Avery let out a yawn, realizing how tired he was suddenly getting. It had been quite a long day and he was thinking of turning into bed before Amelia had showed up, but this was much better than sleep.

Nuzzling his neck, she enjoyed having Avery play with her hair. Ever since she was little she had always loved for someone to braid it, comb it, anything. It was just one of those weird quirks people had; for Amelia, it was with her hair. Her friends and siblings always laughed at her, never understanding why she was like that. She didn’t really understand it either; she just liked the feeling of it. “Well, you seem pretty tired,” she commented, looking up at him. “so why don’t we do something that’s not completely physically exhausting. I did say I wanted to get to know you better, so maybe we can continue asking questions?”

She pulled her head up and looked Avery straight in the eyes, quirking an eyebrow and waiting for his response. She would have been happy just laying in his arms and doing nothing, but if she was lucky she’d have plenty of time to do that. Right now she wanted to learn more about him. He intrigued her and interested her to no end. Like with her hair, she didn’t understand why, she just did.

Oh, don’t you get all jealous on me; he’s just a nice boy who’s trying to get somewhere he never will.

Have we met before?

Don’t believe so, but I thought it would be nice to drop by and say happy birthday, since you said it was your birthday. I’m Avery Grey. And you are?

I forgot.
